MATERIAL: Wool- fine germantown Yarn

This weaving is featured in Plate IVe, “The Eye of the Storm” by Mark Winter

The Storm pattern is an iconic design in Navajo weaving,
symbolically representing the importance of rain storms to the People.
Three key elements are the center of the Universe or Hooghan, secondly are four connecting lines
symbolizing lightning bolts, and thirdly water bugs, spiders, rainbows, and swastikas.
J.B. Moore who ran the Crystal Trading Post from 1896 to 1911,produced the first catalog to market Navajo rugs
featuring the Storm pattern.
