An exquisite example of a Germantown Moki:
The Moki pattern is one of the oldest designs in Navajo weaving and can be traced archaeologically to circa 1750. The Navajo call this style ‘Spanish, or Mexican, Pelt’…possibly suggesting the Navajo believe this is the source of the design’s origin. Moki or Moqui, is a term the Spanish used to identify Hopi Indians, and both the Hopi and the Zuni also wove this style of blanket.”
